Kitchari recipe
Ingredients :
- 1/2 cup basmati rice
- 1/2 cup mung beans (peeled)
- 2 tablespoons ghee
- 1 teaspoon turmeric
- 1 teaspoon ginger , freshly grated
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- salt to taste
- Fresh herbs for garnish
Preparation :
- Wash the rice and mung beans and bring them to the boil in a pot of water. Simmer over medium heat until everything is soft.
- Heat ghee in a pan. Roast ginger, turmeric, cumin and coriander powder until the spices are fragrant.
- Add the fried spices to the cooked rice and beans and stir well. Season with salt.
- Garnish with fresh herbs and serve.
